New York Executive Order on Essential Businesses

March 21, 2020

Governor Cuomo, updated the Executive Order noting that only essential businesses can remain open. His original Executive Order ( 202.6) is attached, and we have highlighted the area that defines our services as essential under “banks and related financial services”. However the NY Guidance page that was published on essential services; defines Financial Services, and does not explicitly include Money Service Businesses; including Money Transmitters, Money Order Companies and Bill Payment companies.

The Executive Order guidance allows for a provision to apply for a designation as an essential service, and we recommend that companies doing business in New York apply out of an abundance of caution, while we investigate and work on obtaining further clarification, as the order is effective Sunday, March 22 at 8:00 pm.
